We had a fantastic sail and got the port-side rail into the water. This was the most we ever had the boat keeled over (and we only had the medium jib up). But, one downside was what happens with your boat if it is also your home! Sorry, Doug! Checkout Doug's work outfit!

At Hunter 170 (of course, a 17 footer) ... looks like a fun one for just around the Sound and it would less likely to sink (given the open transom), yet not too different than the Lido (a 14 footer).
