Below is an e-mail from Malcolm McCallum:

As most Breretons will know, the Rev Francis Lloyd Brereton was the first and third Headmaster of Barnard Castle in County Durham, retiring in 1924 to Massingham. Amongst many of his achievements were the building of the School Chapel which celebrated its centenary in 2012, and the opening of the Preparatory School in 1914.

During my last year as Chairman of the Governors of the School, I have written a book titled 'Barnard Castle School Chapel' which I am selling in the hope that I can raise sufficient funds for a new stained glass window for the Chapel to celebrate the Prep School centenary. The attached form indicates how my book can be purchased.

I shall be very grateful if you will forward my e.mail to those connected to the Breretons whom you think may wish to purchase a copy of the book.

Kind regards
Malcolm McCallum
